WHY EUROPEAN VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES NEED TO BE 60HZ
60hz should be the default for Virtual Console Games

A campaign to try and persuade Nintendo to make all games on the European Virtual Console available in 60hz has popped up on Facebook and we’d like all our readers to sign up.
The campaign is a direct result of this article, written by the lovely people at Nintendo Life.
For those of you who aren’t sure what all the fuss is about, I urge you to read the above article. Or, if you’re pushed for time watch the video below to see a direct comparison of 50hz Sonic the Hedgehog against the 60hz copy:
As you can see, the music and gameplay is clearly slower on the 50hz version. So while our NTSC cousins are getting the game as the developers intended, we Europeans playing the PAL version are getting a shoddy conversion.

I've had to give this blog post a 10 out of 10 without hesitation.
I remember when buying my Wii and a few Virtual Console games. As soon as I discovered they were the PAL crippled 50hz versions I stopped giving Nintendo my pennies.
If they couldn't be bothered to release the 'proper' versions, there was no way I was shelling out for the rubbish they were trying to palm off in my direction.
I kind of agree, but if the games were at 60hz they would not be as European gamers remember them. I am perfectly happy to play Sonic at 50hz (I prefer the Master System version - much more variety in level design).
