1 Super Mario World

How could it be otherwise? Coming early in the SNES' life, it's an absolute classic, and arguably the pinnacle of the 2D Mario games. Introducing so many elements that would become common in later Marios, and also the first game to feature Mario's dragon steed, Yoshi.

Not a bad list, but being a lover of weird Japanese SNES titles, I would have liked to have seen a couple of those...Oh, and Mario Kart!

Nice article. However I agree with Wizzbang that Street fighter 2 and Super Mario Kart would be in the top ten

It is a complete mystery to me what people see in Castlevania (in at no. 4 here) games. I have tried a few and they just seem like a 4 direction version of Green Beret to me. They don't look bad, they just don't look like anything special.

I would have included Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, and Street Fighter 2 in this list but the top 3 games chosen are pretty much indisputable.

I wanted a Megadrive for christmas, and got a SNES. "Some people achieve SNES, some people have SNES thrust upon them" as the saying might have gone...
