Remember Friday the 13th on the NES? I pity you if you do - it was terrible. Why?
You played the role of a group of vapid teen camp counsellors, and you had to patrol the park, looking for Jason and saving your friends if they get attacked, and protecting the children.
This fantastic idea was let down by some terrible gameplay - baffling navigation that left you constantly going the wrong way, weak combat and lame 'battles' with Jason. There were also dreadful flickbook-esque 1st person sequences that would drive you nuts.
It's ultimately repetitive, dull and far too hard to keep everyone alive, and as a result it justifiably bombed on release.
But what if someone retooled it as a modern game? With some tweaks this game could be awesome.
There would be the opportunity for multiple players to play each of the camp counsellors, adding a cooperative element to it and someone else could even play the role of Jason in the online mode.
With proper 3D graphics there would be no confusion as to where you were, either.
I can see it being a bit like Left4Dead, only with four to six players playing terrified camp counsellors with crappy makeshift weapons and one person playing a hulking psychotic slasher with a machete and a regenerating health bar.
