What do people think about having a retro league on the Retro Fusion site? So we pick some games, have highscore competitions and I will look to source some prizes.
That would be the main problem I see with doing this on the "honor system" having people use their own games to play. The only way around this would be to find games for an arcade that could be hosted on the site somehow (I have looked into this for another site, while finding some good games, they didn't offer High Score tables which would nullify them for this).
Well I have been thinking of doing another gaming area like I had on a previous site - that implementation does have a high score system in place, but it would be on a separate site and not integrated into this one. What do people think?
The alternative would be photos I guess with date stamps on them.
I like the idea, but when I have seen these in the past I usually do not participate long as the scores other people get are far higher than anything I could get. For example, I think 100,000 is a very good Galaga score but there are loads of people who can get far higher than that.
I have a high score for Asteroids on another retro site, currently at about 161,000 points, the guy in #2 is at 40K. It does become a situation where people just don't try anymore (I am even offering prizes to whoever can beat my score but no takers so far).
I'm already a member of a very good site, with what seems like a very nice bunch of folk! It's in it's 19th season and is run very well....I see a few familiar retro-type faces there too...
