Re: Favourite 80's Movie

wow! Got about 200 80s films hehe.  Its all I seem to watch nowadays.  I saw it on tv yesterday so Ill start by saying Ghostbusters?  Number 3 is already in production but am thinking maybe its too late now since the last 1 was made in 1989.  But saying that Ill probably want to watch it

I think the 80s were dreadful for films. The fact that Ghostbusters is often mentioned as one of the best from that time when it is just a light hearted family movie (good in its way but nothing special) speaks volumes. I prefer 70's stuff like Jaws, Star Wars, Dirty Harry, Airplane, Life Of Brian, Live and Let Die, probably some others.

Airplane was came out in 1980.  Jaws is 1 of those films that when I speak about 80s films, I always have somebody ask me if I like the jaws series.  Even though it never started in the 80s

My fav 80s film is "The Terminator" ... from 1984.
It's absolutely superb and I'm a big fan of both the Terminator franchise and James Cameron's work.
Also, the best Special Effects man worked on this, the late Stan Winston.

Happy Birthday to "The Empire Strikes Back" - my favourite of all the Star Wars movies.

VC Wii, it is not stupid for a person your age to be on a site about retro games.  Great games know no age.

On topic, I am partial to the animated Transformers movie.  Yes, I cried when Optimus died and "You've Got the Touch" is to me what "Eye of the Tiger" is to people slightly older than me (I think it was featured in one of the Rocky movies, though I missed those altogether so far).

Re: Favourite 80's Movie

Predator is one of my favourites from the later 80's. Can't believe no one has mentioned Aliens, probably the greatest sequel of all time!

A bit of a sad admission but like Ferris Buellers day off and most of the other John Hughes films, Breakfast Club, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Weird Science etc..
For me these defined the 80's movies when stepping away from Sci-Fi arena.
