I'm going to show my age here and say 'The Sweeney'. That started well before 2000. I also quite liked 'The Professionals', 'Airwolf', 'The Equalizer' and comedy programmes such as 'Not the Nine O'Clock News', 'Blackadder' and Dads Army. However, 'The Sweeney' is definitely my favourite as I can remember trying to watch it through the bannisters at the top of the stairs back in the 70s, hoping my parents would not decide to come out of the living room until it was over.
Im a comedy fan too. There was a programme that i liked but i cant remember the name. It was a cop programme it had jasper carrot in it,and it was originaly used as a side part in his own comedy show but due to popular demand it was made longer and was givin its own time slot. I know ALL this but i dont know the name.
I am a big fan of the 80's "giant robot" cartoons like Voltron (both versions we got in the US, only saw promo's for the 3rd version), Robotech (awesome, and still going strong with new content after being stagnate for awhile), Transformers (Generation 1 or whatever they are calling it now will always be best, too bad the animation wasn't that great).
Can't forget 80's action TV shows either though like, The A-Team (not sure about that remake coming this summer but I will try it out anyhow) and Airwolfe (great show, made me want to be a pilot when I grew up, I became a metal engineer instead).
Then there were the comedies that are timeless from my youth, and some before, like Three's Company, Diner (I can't remember the exact name, there was a waitress named Flo or something and another kept telling the cook to "Kiss my grits" as she chewed on bubblegum), Punky Brewster (like 3's company, another show that dealt with topics that shows nowadays wouldn't even consider), Different Strokes (see PB), Jeffersons (again, see PB).
X-Files was great (at least in the beginning, before Doggett got in there to replace Mulder). Hunter, come on, who didn't like that show after one or two episodes? Wise Guy, one of those shows that I probably shouldn't have been watching at a young age (I was born in 1976 and watched WG while it was airing for the first time).
A couple of my faves are 'Hardcastle and McCormick' and 'Prospects' on Channel 4 with the late Gary Olsen. Plus there was a childrens show called 'Round The Bend' with the unforgettable 'Pzycho the Magnificent'
