What was the first game you played?

What was the first game you ever saw/played?

For me it was either Pac Man, Donkey Kong, or Galaxian. I was on holiday in majorca in the very early 80's and one of the bars that allowed kids had these three machines - the owner put them on freeplay for me. I was addicted from that point on.

In fact I had a strange obsession with drawing girders and ladders for years afterwards.

I think the first arcade game I ever played was Space Invaders. Also remember seeing a Moon Cresta cocktail as well about the same time.

First Spectrum game I played was Lunar Jetman then Manic Miner. I was the ripe old age of 13 and heaven had just landed in my bedroom.

I also remember Astro Fighter in the local cafe in the small town I lived in. We lived in an estate at the top of the hill, and the cafe was at the bottom of this hill. I remember vividly the screaming, loud pitched noisethat the end boss made as it floated up the hill as I walked down it. Happy times.

At home it was probably centipede or milipede.  Might have been crystal castles but was probs 1 of the first 2

in the arcade I reckon it was super mario

Re: What was the first game you played?

The first arcade game I ever played would have been 'Periscope' from Sega which was a huge electro-mechanical beast which can be seen here:

http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=12985

I would have been about four at the time which meant that this game would have been almost cutting edge Back then it was almost all electro-mechanicals, shooting ranges, pinball and one armed bandits. In some of the arcades there were still games that went back to the 1920s.

The first videogame I played was 'Pong' and that was in the 'Noahs Ark' arcade in Weymouth circa 1973/74. I wasn't that impressed with it at the time if I remember correctly. Who would have imagined where it would lead?

I think it was a breakout game for the ZX81. It seemed pretty incredible to actually control a thing on the television at the time.

Some real dross on a school Research Machines computer.  First one in the arcades was Space Invaders followed by Moon Cresta and Xevious.
