JOFFA SMITH DIES TODAY..
The death of a Spectrum developer legend.

Posted by boyo on Jun 26, 2010 14:32 (Jun 26, 2010 14:32)

Sad news indeed that Jonathan 'Joffa' Smith died today at 10:30am after being in hospital with an unknown illness for 3 months or so.

Joffa was considered by many to be the best Spectrum programmer and was responsible for such classics as Hypersports, Green Beret, Mikie and Cobra whilst at Ocean and Imagine.

RIP Joffa.

That's sad to hear.  Just read up on this guy and he had a lot of achievements.  Making games at such a young age is incredible

This is very sad. Joffa was one of those pioneer coders that was able to make hardware do things they were not always intended for. He could have got away with simply what was required, but always went way beyond that.

A very sad day.  Glimpsed his appearance at Byte back last year but would have loved to have met him and talked about the old days.

Playing Cobra now.  Rest in peace jof.

Sad to hear that. Never had a Speccy myself, but I respect his achievements.

Green Beret, Mikie and Cobra were my favourites as a nipper. Sad day and at a young age too (only three years older than I am now)
