No one makes bullet hell shmups like the Japanese, and there's a distinct lack of these insane shooters on the iPhone.
But Japanese developer Cave has just dropped Retro Fusion a line to announce that an iPhone/iPod touch-specific sequel to its classic DoDonPachi coin-op and Sega Saturn hit is ready to hit the iPhone.
Anyone who follows this particular strain of manic shoot-'em-ups will undoubtedly have heard of the DoDonPachi franchise, which performed impressively well both in the arcades and on fifth generation consoles like the Saturn and PlayStation; mainly thanks to its great storyline and brain-bendingly chaotic gameplay.
More specifically, DoDonPachi Resurrection is being touted as a direct sequel to DoDonPachi Daioujou - the fourth game in the series that hit the arcades and PS2 back in 2002, but to be honest the core gameplay has remained pretty consistent, so the iPhone title's legacy is fully intact.
DoDonPachi Resurrection hasn't hit the App Store just yet (at least, not outside of Japan), but is promised for a summer release. Watch this space (and this video).
