RARE C64 FIND!
Rotronics Wafadrive for the C64 - unreleased and a pretty special find!

Posted by boyo on Aug 6, 2010 22:25 (Aug 6, 2010 22:25)

Retrofusion has been handed a picture of a Rotronics Wafadrive for the Commodore 64. These devices made it big on the ZX Spectrum allowing the storage and retrieval of data from 'wafers' that came in 16 kB, 64 kB or 128 kB sizes.

The Wafadrive as it was known was never released for the Commodore machine, eventually appearing as a device called the Quick Data Drive (QDD) by BSR, designed to connect to the C64's serial port.

So this image is pretty special - an unreleased C64 Rotronics Wafadrive rescued from the darkest recess of an old Rotronics stockpile.
