Whilst out and about meeting fellow retro enthusiasts, I was given a gift.
I was told that it is an extremely rare "Elite" badge that Acornsoft awarded gamers that sent in their 'order of the Elite' postcard with the code they received at 'Elite' level within the BBC game of the same name.
Some of you to can now relive your childhoods, well it's now up and running so have a look, It took years to get it working again, Go to this site and explore 8¬) . Domesday Reloaded 1986
No but i have an Archimedes and a RiscPC and have a Copy of the Archimedes Version the police ships attack in swarms have you tried the free pc Version called Oolite it's at this address http://www.oolite.org/ most of the time i am on the pc playing a game very like it but much much better called X3Terran Conflict a new version is comming 3/4 near the end of the year
That is excellent, ELITE. Have you played either of the 2 GBA versions by Quirky? One is largely faithful to the original BBC version and the other has loads of new stuff in it but is a bit harder since you start with a rubbish ship and very little cargo space.
I am playing the second one on the Wii and really enjoying it.
Yes I won an ELITE Badge in the competition still have it and the papers, I used a BBC B and a 6502 second processor with two home made analog joysticks and a floppy drive, I use a Picture of the ELITE Badge as my Avitar on Flickr ElitePhotoBox .
I never got to be Elite, although one of my friends mum did back in the 1980s. I am playing Elite AGB at the moment, a GameBoy Advance version by Quirky which has been expanded so you can but better ships, have more missions, more types of upgrades and loads of other stuff. I am playing it on the Wii GBA emulator and it plays great.
