JON HARE JUMPS IN THE IPHONE RING WITH SHOOT TO KILL
The stalwart Sensible software soldier returns to games with his first new title since... the last one. And it's on the iPhone.

Posted by Spanner on Aug 13, 2010 07:57 (Aug 13, 2010 07:57)

You could argue that this isn't retro news, given that the iPhone arcade-style blast-'em-up Shoot To Kill is brand new, and on a brand new platform. But when Jon "Sensible Software" Hare's name is attached, everything becomes retro (we're not suggesting you're old, Jon, but... you know).

The game was developed by Poland's Vivid Games, creators of one of my all time favourite mobile and iPhone titles Samurai Puzzle Battle, and released through Hare's Tower Studios.
Perhaps more importantly, however, is that Shoot To Kill is the first game to use Tower Studios' Free For Freaks payment system, which allows hardcore, skilful gamers to play for 'nowt, and only charges lamers when they need to buy more lives. It's an interesting new payment system that we'll be following with interest.

In the meantime, here's a trailer for Shoot To Kill. A sharp eye can spot Jon in the actual game - he's the fourth demon that gets a rocket propelled grenade between the teeth (not really). Afterwards, you can click here to go and get the game for free (assuming you're a freak, and I think you are) then go back to your Speccy emulator for a game of Sensible Soccer.

I still think he should an offical release of Cannon Fodder 1 & 2 ..I'd buy that in a flash, there is a clone on the app store, can't remeber what it was called, played it about a year ago, but the best and Original would be sweet..will check this out of course ;)
